Fake metal cards Vs real metal cards

THE BAD!

.Official metal Pokémon cards are a relatively new addition to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, primarily released as special promotional items rather than being part of standard expansion sets.

.These fakes seem to be the newest thing on the market within the Pokémon world, I see lots of parents putting pictures up of these because their kids have traded them in the playground. These are as fake as they come! there are only a handful of metal Pokémon cards that have been made, the only cards that are real are the one’s pictured below and the sets thet come from.

.Amazon and eBay’s finest ultra rare metal fake cards.

.These might look good but that’s about it.

.Note that these come in a variety of colours and styles

.Don’t be fooled by clever wording or fancy pictures

.People will try too fool you and take advantage of you when money is involved.

.This was a live ebay sales post, if you see someone selling fake products with 100% feedback I would stay clear as this is probably a scam account, you can always report these to ebay but unfortunately 99% of the time they will not act on this information. places like vinted will act and will suspend accounts to combat people trying to sell these fake products.

THE GOOD!

.Here are the main releases that have featured official metal Pokémon cards:

.Celebrations Ultra-Premium Collection (2021): This collection, released for the Pokémon 25th anniversary, included two metal cards:

.A replica of the Pikachu card from the original Base Set.

.Note how the back of these cards look metal, even with the Pokémon writing.

.A replica of the Charizard #4 card from the original Base Set.

.Take care when buying these cards because people have tried to cover up paint chips and tried to buff the cards up to make them look better than they are to get a higher price, These cards are notorious for chips and damages to the paint and edging as can been seen in the picture above showing the back of the card.

.Arceus VSTAR Ultra-Premium Collection (2022): This collection introduced two more metal cards:

.Arceus V

.Arceus VSTAR

.These cards featured full-color designs, unlike the previous Celebrations metal cards.

.Scarlet & Violet 151 Ultra-Premium Collection (2023): This set included a metal Mew ex card.

.Note how the back of this metal card looks more like a standard card from the set.

.Greninja Ultra Premium Collection (GameStop Exclusive): This collection featured a metal Greninja ex card.

.It’s important to note that these metal cards are typically included in premium collection boxes rather than being found in regular booster packs or standard sets. They are also generally not legal for official tournament play due to their different thickness and weight compared to regular cards.

There were also gold-plated promotional “cards” from Burger King in 1999, but these were more like collectible ingots and not considered traditional Pokémon TCG cards.
